I finally did it. I subscribed to the Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. For a while now I’ve been debating doing so, but because mixed media is really more my thing than card making I hadn’t taken the plunge. Silly really, since many card making supplies are really great for mixed media too. Stamps, papers, embellishments, even dies can be used. After all, that’s why it’s called mixed media.
My first card kit arrived a few weeks ago. My March Card kit included the Simon Says Stamp stamp set “My Kind of Peep” with the matching dies, a Tim Holtz Distress Crayon in Picked Raspberry, Simon Says Stamp Yellow sequin mix, Carta Bella Spring 6” x 6” paper, two watercolor cards with exclusive images designed by Suzy Plantamura and Simon Says Stamp cardstock in Orange Peel, Doll Pink, Ivory, Green Apple and Lemon Chiffon.
Since I’m all about dual purpose supplies and getting the most for my money, I was immediately challenged to take something that at first glance might have appeared to be very Easter specific and find a way to use it outside of the spring holiday season. Luckily I didn’t have a problem with that at all. My granddaughter celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday at preschool and I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes by him. “Why fit in when you were made to stand out?” The following is my step by step video that will allow you to follow along as I create the card. Below the video is a full listing of the supplies used in the creation of this card.
Since it took me no time at all to find one way to use the adorable ‘peeps’ in a non-holiday way, I’m absolutely positive I’ll find more. I’m just as certain I’ll find plenty of uses for the other materials in the March kit. I can’t wait to see what is in my April kit!
